Day 5: Second day at Kobo

When we arrived in Pieter’s office today he immediately had a meeting online which I also joined. It was cool to see how they communicate with people all over the world. After the meeting was finished, there was a town hall in the centre of the building. Pieter explained to me that the town hall is a short gathering of all the employees where their boss tells something about the progress of the company. The boss of Kobo came and gave a speech about last week and the status of the company. It was nice to see the reactions of all the employees.
After the town hall Pieter introduced me to Tracy, who introduced me to Ben. He works in the Marketing Communication department and manages all the social media accounts of Kobo like Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram. He took me to take some pictures of e-readers between hardcover books and e-readers covered in fruits. After that we played a game of Jenga and ping-pong, which was very funny. When we were back at his desk he asked me to come up with some #QOTD, which stands for Questions Of The Day. These are questions he asks people on Facebook. He already used one of my questions! At 12 PM it was time for lunch.
I went for lunch with Rebecca, Ben and Tammy. We went to a pizzeria where we ate a slice of pizza, obviously.
After lunch I went to Rebecca. She works in the VM & Merchandising department. In this time of year a lot of Europeans are on their holiday, so in the work that had to be done for this week were some gaps. Rebecca was making sure that those gaps were filled. The things she had to do was look at graphs and numbers and make a conclusion out of it. She explained me a bit what all the graphs meant and how she formed her conclusion. It was very interesting to see how she did that. Rebecca and Ben were both very nice to me and it was nice to meet them.
Everyone here calls me Flora, instead of Floor because it is a little bit easier for them ;p
After I was finished with Rebecca, Pieter showed me around. The building has 3 levels and on all the levels are people working. It impressed me to see the whole building. Around 5 PM the day was over and we went home.
